Today we honor, Molly Pitcher, battlefield hero. (1754-1832)

Mary Ludwig Hays, with many other soldiers' wives, was with the American troops on June 28, 1778, at the Revolutionary War Battle of Monmouth. It was a very hot June day, and Mary kept up a supply of drinking water from her pitcher to the men. The soldiers called her "Molly Pitcher."
When her husband collapsed from the heat, Molly took his place at the gun and remained there until the battle was finished.
